I picked 3 stars because I honestly don't know how to rate this. The DVD cover art shows the Eiffel Tower with a romantic couple in the foreground. The Tower was mentioned briefly at the end. There was no romance unless it was supposed to be provided by the young singers who appeared at unexpected intervals. The history, with occasional political commentary, jumped forward and backward in time and wound up just being confusing. A lot of it concerned rather awful deaths, buildings and bridges used for multiple purposes over time which were destroyed and re-built, sewer systems and underground catacombs, etc. There were close-ups of the sewers, but a lot of the city shots were at a distance and winter-grey. None of it made me want to visit Paris, and I loved Paris when I was there. Some of the old drawings and photographs were interesting and I'm sure I learned something from watching this "History of Paris", but I'm not sure what.
