Bernadette Lawrence was born on an exquisite island in the Caribbean called Dominica into a family of 12 children with loving parents and lots of relatives. Bernadette sang and danced with her brothers and sisters at home and in school plays and concerts. She performed in Grenada and Martinique as part of promoting Caribbean and Dominican culture. Bernadette sang lead with a well-known band called the Swinging Stars Orchestra and came to New York with a dream, then took voice, dance and acting lessons. She joined the Ron Roche Caribbean Ensemble and the group performed in New York, Mexico and Barbados. Bernadette played leading roles in Off-Broadway plays and musicals written by Edgar White, Sullivan Walker and Sam Tate. She sang backup with Marcia Griffiths (Bob Marley's I-Threes) and was lead singer with a Afro-Caribbean group (Kossa-Bi). Bernadette wrote 7 of the songs on her debut CD Try Romance and co-wrote Not A Game with producer Rod Clemmons. Check out the new arrangement of All Bets Down.
