RCA Victor both valued and promoted it's outstanding artists; It also used every means possible to wring every cent out of the library of many outstanding artists. The repertoire of Mario Lanza is a major case in point. As Lanza biographer Armondo Cesari has stated, RCA released many of Lanza's radiio recordings, which were substandard and below the quality of his studio recordings .It was his wish that future compilations would be produced by "someone musically competent" because many excellent versions of prior material were still locked in the RCA vaults. This 2011 compilation by Jon M. Samuels appears to have been produced by the "musically competent." and contains 21 beautifully selected versions of Mario Lanza's romantic songs! Over the years I heard most of Mario's recordings, and I was pleased to hear the previously unreleased "All the Things You Are."
