Cary Grant stars in this interesting story of Ernest Bliss. Bliss is a wealthy, handsome, young, man that goes to a doctor because he can't figure out why he feels so tired all the time. The doctor's diagnosis? He has to much money.The doctor finds nothing wrong with him physically. The doctor suggests all he needs to do is something honest work. Bliss ends up wagering the doctor 50,000 pounds that he can go out in the world and "earn his own way" for 12 months. He sets out with only a small suitcase and a 5 pound note.Determined to win the bet, Bilss finds his first job selling stoves on commission. There, he meets a pretty girl (Mary Brian) wear a romance quickly develops. Along the way, Bliss develops empathy for the poor. And he is inspired by the rich doctor that treats poor people and charges no fee. Bilss also works at a chauffeur company as a driver. There he encounters and unscrupulous manager who takes advantage of the employees. Upon discovering this, Bliss plots his revenge.An interesting look at London, between the wars.Interestingly, this is the only movie where the English born Cary Grant ever made in England.The DVD, published by The Film Detective came on a burned DVD-R. The quality of the video and audio is good.
